In this workshop I will introduce the work of Jaak Panksepp which has been expanded by Sarah Peyton around the circuits of emotion in the brain. This will include the impact of developmental trauma and attachment missattunement in terms of “entanglements” of emotions creating challenges in clients, include “rackets” in TA terms. This is where the emotion expressed is masking or confused with the actual emotion being experienced due to early year missattunement with emotions in their early formation.

The overview will introduce each emotional circuit, with relevant information about the corresponding neurotransmitters and addictions that correlate with specific emotional needs being missed.

Client’s addiction patterns can give clues to which emotional circuits are entangled and offer ways in which to work to support the actual emotion needing to be expressed.
