About

Beth Freire

I’m a clinical psychologist, person-centered therapist, and trainer.

I am currently the Programme Director of the PgDip/Msc in Person-Centred Counselling at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. I have previously taught at the Counselling Unit of the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK) for seven years and was a director of Institute Delphos in Brazil until 2004 when I moved to the UK.

I have 16 years of experience as a person-centred therapist, both in private practice and in the voluntary sector, working with clients from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, age, and ethnicity.

I also have published several articles and chapters in English, and a book in Portuguese, about the theory and practice of person-centered therapy. I’m also the editor of the journal Person-Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy and Counselling (PCEP).

In this event, Beth presented her perspective on Congruence and demonstrated how she felt it…
