“In order to find the (client), we must look for him within ourselves”

– Christopher Bollas

Workshop Details

Transference and Counter-transference are phenomena that we need to understand in theory and practice in order to work as therapists. A rich source of understanding for client and therapist alike, it brings depth and meaning to our work. It can have an enlivening effect on us as we bring into awareness re-enactments rooted in our past that have significant impact in our present.

In this workshop we will explore some of the different types and experiences of transference and how best we can put our understanding into practice with our clients.

We will look at working outside, with and within transferential experience, how our history impacts on transference, what our embodied self can tell us about transference and explore some of these ideas through experiential exercises.
