Feelings of guilt and shame are common responses to trauma. However, sometimes these feelings persist long after the traumatic event(s), and can be intense and resistant to therapy.
In this workshop, Mark will be drawing on research and his clinical experience to explore the process and nature of guilt and shame, how trauma can generate shame and guilt and how to work with them in therapy.

Mark is a UKCP registered psychotherapist, teaching and supervising transactional analyst and EMDR Europe accredited practitioner. He is passionate about integrating neuroscience into psychotherapy and in finding ways for therapists to make use of research findings in their practice. He is the author of Transactional Analysis: 100 Key Points and Techniques and Transactional Analysis for Depression: A step-by-step treatment manual. He has received two international awards for his research on the effectiveness of TA for depression and is a TEDx speaker. He has a private practice in central Manchester and is a senior lecturer in counselling and psychotherapy at the University of Salford.
