In this workshop we will be focusing on how to work with clients to build their Self Esteem and Self Confidence.

“Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.”

Workshop Details

Many times, when we work with clients their underlying lack of self-esteem undermines their confidence and their ability to apply the changes that they are seeking in therapy.

Self Esteem is the foundation on which we build our ability to move through life confidently, managing its inevitable changes as we go. It is the sense that we can cope in adversity as well as enjoy the good times. Self-esteem is one of the basic human motivations in Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Maslow suggests we need both esteem from other people as well as inner self-respect in order for an individual to grow and thrive.

When we have self-confidence, we trust our own judgement and abilities whether or not others agree. We value ourselves in spite of our imperfections. We recognise our competence and ability to make changes. We are able to accept difficulties and keep going in the face of setbacks. Self-confidence also brings about more happiness.

Typically, when we are confident in our abilities, we are happier, more energised, and motivated. In this workshop we will be looking at some theories around how self-esteem is built and held in our systems and also some ways to put the theory into practice with our clients.
