Supervisor Training: Learn Outcome 1 – Understand the Purposes, Tasks, and Functions of Supervision (Content Areas 1.1, 1.2, 1.3)

This 1-hour workshop, “Understanding the Purposes, Tasks, and Functions of Supervision,” is part of a supervisor training series designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of key knowledge-based learning outcomes from the supervision curriculum.

In this session, participants will explore the fundamental purposes, tasks, and functions of supervision in the context of counseling and psychotherapy. Through a structured presentation, reflective activities, and practical discussions, participants will gain valuable insights into the dual purpose of supervision—supporting supervisee development while ensuring client welfare.

Learning Outcomes Covered:

Learning Outcome 1: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the purposes, tasks, and functions of supervision.

  • Content Area 1.1: The tasks, functions, and processes of supervision.
  • Content Area 1.2: The roles of the supervisor.
  • Content Area 1.3: The distinction between therapy and supervision.
