About this event
Dr Kalanit ben-Ari invites therapists and relationship counselors to explore the complex dynamics of how partners project their feelings, desires, and insecurities onto each other, and how these projections can shape the course of their relationship. This one-hour session aims to shed light on the subtle yet powerful ways in which individuals transfer their own emotional baggage onto their partners, often mistaking these feelings for the other person’s motives or emotions.
Through engaging discussions and practical examples, participants will learn:
The Basics of Projection and Transference: Understanding these psychological processes and how they manifest in intimate relationships. Identifying Projections: Strategies for recognising when a client is projecting personal issues onto their partner and how to bring awareness to this behaviour. Navigating Emotional Landscapes: Techniques for guiding couples through the delicate process of acknowledging and addressing projections, fostering a climate of open communication and empathy. Transforming Challenges into Opportunities: How to help couples use the recognition of projections as a stepping stone towards greater intimacy and understanding, turning potential conflicts into moments of connection. Strengthening Bonds: Encouraging couples to see beyond the mirror of their projections, to truly see each other, and to build a more authentic and connected relationship.
This session is designed not just to provide insights into handling projections and transference but also to offer tools for facilitating deeper emotional connections between partners. By the end of this talk, therapists and counselors will be better equipped to support couples in breaking down the barriers that projections and transference can create, guiding them towards a more genuine and fulfilling partnership.
