This workshop offers the opportunity to develop close insight into complex psychosocial trauma as it shapes survivors’ internal experiences (as in, thoughts, feelings, memories, and perceptions) as well as the relationship among important identities and life roles. This is the essence of intrapersonal relationship – the relationship one has with one’s own personality, internal experiences and whole self. Participants will be encouraged to explore this relationship as the most significant one in an individual’s life and as a model for other types of relationships. Additionally, the workshop will delve into the neurobiology of intra-relational trauma and discuss its implications for self-direction and self-preservation.
Participants will gain insight into:
- Some of the ways psychosocial trauma & neuropsychosocial disintegration manifest in internal experiences that constitute intrapersonal relationships.
- The neuropsychosocial perspective on personality v Personality Patterns & Pathologies.
- The neurobiology of trauma that drives or inhibits intrapersonal relationships and Self-Preservation.
- Psychosocial Developmental Demand in Focus – Integrating identity cohesion to promote truthfulness and fidelity (the antithesis of falseness and identity confusion in dis-integration).
- ‘Monster’– a case study on trauma-driven self-preservation.
- Introduction to Emotional SPEARs for Well-being – Correcting the stories.

Winniey E Maduro
Dr Winniey E. Maduro is a research psychologist and lecturer in neurobiology of the psychosocial. In her research and practice, she focuses on neuropsychosocial adaptations to adverse lived experiences (ALEs), integrative neuropsychosocial therapy, and posttraumatic growth within and across generations.
