About this event

How Adverse Experiences & Trauma Shape the Nervous System in Daily Life Workshop with Winniey E Maduro

In this Workshop, we are building on what we learned in Workshop One in which we explored the nervous system and focused on the central nervous system – the brain and spine. We will dive deeper into how the nervous system works and explore vital activities of its peripheral divisions – with which we will become more acquainted. The objective is to develop an appreciation of how perceptions and sensations of adversity and trauma are processed in the body and the mind. This appreciation will also include insights into the biochemical messengers that carry information between nerve cells and to different parts of the body that are involved in regulating stress and keeping us alive and functioning as we navigate our daily lives. This is the neurobiology of our survival.
