Burnout feels like the end of the world. It’s not. It is a new beginning. But only if you stop and listen to its life saving message.

Burnout is not simply about work/life balance. In my book The Joy of Burnout, I show how burnout happens when your heart goes out of a situation either because you’ve changed or the situation has changed, but you have too much invested to stop and rethink. This can be at work, or in a relationship or even a political organization. Instead, you soldier on, divided against yourself, as if driving with the accelerator and brake at once, until burnout stops you.

In this workshop we will explore why people burn out, how to recognize it, and how to find the way to joy. We will also do my key experiential imagery exercise “Image as Life Metaphor.” Whether you are personally burnt out or not, this exercise will show you the outlines of where you are now in your life and how to move forward. It can also be a valuable tool for helping clients, colleagues, friends or family.
