We talk about “happily ever after..” however, endings are rarely so simple. In the therapy room we are so often working with endings with clients, whether it be a death, a loss of themselves and identity in some way, a loss of a role or house or even a loss of a dream.

Beginning my training as a therapist in a hospice, which I still support today, I was struck by the impact of the work and have a real passion for it. It’s loss or bereavement that often brings clients to therapy who have never sought it out previously.

There are many models of working with grief and loss. In this short session we’ll consider some of those in terms of Transactional Analysis theory; Ego states, Symbiosis, Discounting etc.

And having discussed this from a theoretical framework we’ll then also consider how practically to best work with clients in the therapy room who are facing difficulties around.

Presenter

Fleur Newton-Edwards

Fleur set up her own private practice back in 2013, working on a part time basis. Within two months, she had a full client workload and this has continued. Fleur previously also worked in a corporate environment, which has given her some insight into running a business as well as being able to do something you love and have a passion for. She’s keen to share as snapshot her own thoughts, experiences and challenges in starting up and growing a successful private practice.
