We all experience loss in our lives, and it has been said that every client issue is about loss, either directly or indirectly. For some clients that is why they come for therapy while others may experience loss in the process of therapy, or both.
As children we often hear that endings are all about happily ever after but life is often not like that.
In this workshop we’ll reflect what is loss? what does loss mean? Is loss a good thing? A bad thing? Or just a thing!
We will look at this in terms of more general models of grief as well as from a Transactional Analysis perspective to support your client work. We will consider how to enhance your work in the therapy room with clients experiencing loss and reflect on blind spots you may have in your client work because of your own personal losses. We will Consider how best to work with this client group and acknowledging that loss, in its many forms, touches us all at some stage.
Working with loss in a hospice setting has been a very influential part of Fleur’s journey and in the way she works as a therapist.
Through her experience as a Supervisor, Fleur also recognises that this is often an area of introduction for new therapists embarking on their training journey, so this workshop offers supportive models and techniques for those starting out in counselling well as offering a Transactional Analysis perspective for those who are experienced.

Presenter
Fleur set up her own private practice back in 2013, working on a part time basis. Within two months, she had a full client workload and this has continued. Fleur previously also worked in a corporate environment, which has given her some insight into running a business as well as being able to do something you love and have a passion for. She’s keen to share as snapshot her own thoughts, experiences and challenges in starting up and growing a successful private practice.
