One of the important concepts within TA is the idea of discounting - involving an inhibitory process concerning our perceptions of ourselves, others and reality. Although this can be useful for understanding and working with people's psychological problems, it does not explain what healthy functioning is.

The accounting cycle is a model Mark has developed for understanding how people's perceptions arise, are thought about and acted upon. In this talk you will be introduced to the accounting cycle, including the stages through which we account, and how it is useful in understanding and working with interruptions to our normal functioning.
