This session is for you, the therapist, to support you in your practice, to keep mind, body and spirt well. It’s one of 2 parts where in Part 1, you’ll experience a range of somatic resources and in Part 2, you’ll be supported in putting these resources into practice in your own client work.

We are all vulnerable to vicarious trauma and burn out, particularly those of us working with trauma and our resources are often our lifeline enabling us to stay resilience and robust. In this workshop you’ll be guided through a wide range of body-based resources including breathwork, movement and visualisation to both calm and boost your nervous system, bringing you into the window of tolerance, where you can find fresh energy for your practice and engagement with your clients. This known as the bottom-up approach to trauma work.

Our work can be sedentary and as our energy levels drop, through being seated in one position all day, our caseload and intensity of client work, we may find ourselves unconsciously defaulting into habitual patterns of relating. For example, we may take too much of our clients explicit and implicit material on(which can lead to vicarious trauma, burn out and compassion fatigue) OR distance ourselves, however, subtly from our clients pain and distress resulting in a lack of meeting at relational depth.

These exercises are designed to nourish, support and give strength so you can surf the waves and experience flow in your life, both professionally and personally.
