“Caring for your self, bringing support and healing to your own efforts to help others and the larger worlds in which we live, is an essential daily practice – not a luxury, not some form of self-indulgence……If we don’t care for ourselves, we’ll become limited in how we care for others. It is that simple. And it is that important – for you, for others, and for our planet.” Daniel J. Siegel (2010)

We now work online so much of the time that self-care has become a huge issue. We will explore with students how to better self-care for themselves and for their clients.

Self-care for thiose working online takes on an even greater importance – we continue to conaider all those aspects that are already important in self care in face to face practice but go further as all the digital aspects of the course require us to think thorugh how we can care of ourselves, for example, when we sit at our desks in front of our computer screens. Wrecking our eyes, neck or back is so easy in online work and very small changes can make a huge difference.

We will consider all the senses that are relevent in self-care and give some pointers about how it is possible to take care of our bodies and minds by choosing the right posture and equipment.

We will also consider aspects of mindfulness and mindful tech.

The module includes theory and research / evidenced literature, and practical information and skills practice in the workshop session.

Please email us at admissions@acadtherapy.online if you would like discuss anything about the course!

Mental health is gaining attention in India, yet even though one finds a lot more written around mental health, most people suffering from mental health problems hesitate to approach a therapist or counsellor specially one providing services online. In this scenario setting up an online therapy that maintains highest standards of practice with no regulations to fall back on among other challenges is an interesting ongoing experience. This workshop will highlight the role of culture and how to navigate and establish a service within low resource settings.
