We are all likely to experience clients with Personality Disorders in our therapy rooms. Contemporary perspectives on complex relational trauma shed further light on chronic attachment stress and its impact upon the developing self. This talk aims to introduce some of these ideas, answering the questions – what is a personality disorder, how does it develop and what does it look like in clinical practice?

Working with this client group can often elicit strong counter transferential responses in us as clinicians. Rachel will attend to common countertransference experiences working in this complex area of clinical practice. These ideas will provide the ground for a self-care guide for clinicians, which also supports best practice for our clients. This talk is applicable to attendees from all training modalities. For those who are interested in further learning, Rachel teaches the Certificate in Working with Personality Disorders (24 hours/online) course at The Link Centre.
