The sense of shame that can develop from experiencing a trauma and multiple traumas (particularly relational trauma) seeps into a persons core. Their sense of self and identity is then shaped around the shame which then seeps outwards into all areas of life. Living with shame can feel tragic with the future looking bleak. The colour can drain out of life robbing the person of their vital life energy. This workshop aims to equip you with tools to support your clients to restore a sense of goodness.
We’ll explore shame from various different perspectives learning:
- How shame distorts both inner and outer reality
- Intergenerational shame and the types of parenting behaviours that can transmit shame down the generations
- Shame and the brain
- Embodiment practices that develop experiences of goodness – the antidote to shame
