What’s it like when your teenager or young adult tells you they are transgender?

Josephine Hughes is a BACP Accredited Counsellor and in 2015 two of her children told her they were transgender. Based on personal experience and in an interview format, this workshop describes one parent’s transition alongside their children.

It will cover the themes such as loss, the controversy around the use of the word “grief” in relation to coming out, transphobia, coping with change and the type of support parents need.

It aims to help counsellors working with families around transgender issues, together with anyone who is experiencing this themselves.

The workshop will be in interview format with a Q&A section.
