Workshop Description
This workshop is part of the SCoPEd Training series, designed to support practitioners in meeting the knowledge-based competences outlined in the SCoPEd framework.
In this session, participants will be encouraged to actively and innovatively apply their own theoretical approach to their ongoing clinical work.
Whereas competence 2.5.B considers a more general consideration of client functioning, 4.9.B explicitly seeks to encourage application and exploration of abstract theory to the vital, ongoing therapeutic work that you as practitoners offer.
This subtle competence is at the forefront of ethical and professional counselling and psychotherapy practice, enhancing in-the-moment and ongoing clinical decision making.
Through a structured presentation and interactive elements, participants will explore, among other aspects, the following:
- How we might apply our theoretical way of working actively throughout the various stages of therapy
- Trans-theoretical “tools” and concepts to assist practitioners in linking theory to practice actively throughout therapy
- What “reflect upon” might really mean at SCoPEd Column B levels of experience and expertise
This workshop is essential for practitioners seeking to revisit and refine their understanding of client presenting and underlying issues over therapy to meet accreditation requirements under the SCoPEd Framework, as well as for practitioners, supervisors and organisational leaders who work and lead in this ever-present area of therapeutic practice.

He has consulted for national professional bodies and training providers to support them in the implementation of SCoPEd and is a course assessor on a NHSE-funded training course that works to the SCoPEd framework.
