Social phobia, the debilitating fear of social situations, is one of the most common complaints to turn up in our consulting rooms. We already have several useful concepts within Transactional Analysis for understanding and alleviating these difficulties, but the way that social contexts can generate and exacerbate them is sometimes overlooked.

Drawing generally upon ideas from his recently-published book Contextual Transactional Analysis, James Sedgwick suggests that social anxiety can result from a range of different factors and that our approach to treatment must be correspondingly flexible.

The workshop will combine traditional structured teaching with small group discussion and experiential exercises with the ultimate hope that you will be able to approach social anxiety cases with greater confidence.
