Understanding Dyslexia and Dyspraxia in Adults Workshop with Liz Smith and Natalie Kennedy

Dyslexia & Dyspraxia are often assumed to be childhood conditions and as such is often under-identified in adults. They can also have a significant effect on adult wellbeing and mental health.

This workshop will explore dyslexia and dyspraxia and how they may present in adults, the challenges dyslexic or dyspraxic adults may face in their everyday lives, and what this means for working with them in your practice.

  • How are dyslexia and dyspraxia identified
  • How do dyslexia and dyspraxia impact adult life and mental health

Who is This Workshop Appropriate For?

  • Suitable for counsellors, psychotherapists, coaches, mental health professionals, etc. Students/trainees welcome.

How May This Workshop Impact Your Practice?

  • We hope that practitioners will develop a foundational understanding of how to support dyslexic and dyspraxic adults in practice.

RECORDING 

This workshop will be recorded and you can use the ticket function to pre-purchase the recording before the event. This will be useful for colleagues who are not able to attend the event live and also for those who attend the event live and want to watch it again.

ZOOM 

This workshop will be hosted on the Zoom meeting platform where we will use our cameras and microphones to interact with each other as a group.

SELF-SELECT FEE

The self-select fee is a radical inclusion policy to open learning for all colleagues. The guide price for this event is £20.00, however, we appreciate that income varies greatly in different locations and circumstances. Please contribute what you can to help us maintain inclusive professional training.

Liz Smith

Liz Smith, a BACP-accredited psychotherapist and supervisor who was herself diagnosed with dyspraxia and AuDHD as an adult and works with neurodivergent clients in practice, including with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia.

Natalie Kennedy

Natalie Kennedy is a highly experienced therapist, art therapist, trainer and supervisor who had an adult diagnosis of dyslexia and is awaiting AuDHD assessment. Natalie works with children, families and adults in London.
