Workshop Details
Parts work has rocketed into the therapeutic arena of late with more and more therapists appreciating the parts within their clients and that we aren’t a singular self.
Parts work isn’t a psychological construct; parts are embodied and held deeply in the fascia, our posture and nervous system. Each part has a posture, way of viewing the world, a belief about self and a way of behaving…even a way of dressing! This exploration of the multi-faceted side of EACH part will illuminate your understanding of self both yourself and your clients.
Once we are on this exciting path, no parts are seen as bad; in fact, all parts are welcome, warts and all, each part has a message to bring, a purpose, a reason for being the way they are.
When are aren’t aware of the parts within our personality that are dominant or disowned then they take over and drive our ‘psychological car’. This can lead to burnout, imbalance, destructive patterns, not taking responsibility OR taking too much responsibility and much much more.
This workshop is based on Hal and Sidra Stone’s Psychology of Selves model which provides a user-friendly framework for understanding the range of parts – those that are dominant (and are how we identify), those that have regressed into the shadow, those that protect, judge and criticise – and how we can get to know these parts and what they bring.
