This course aims to equip CYP therapists with the knowledge and skills to implement level 1 safeguarding requirements in an online setting. Safeguarding children and young people (online) can be one of the most challenging aspects in online therapy with so many additional issues to consider, such as not being able to fully see the client or their physical space, not being in the same room as the client and ensuring there are clearer and stronger agreed safety plans and safeguarding procedures in place before the therapy begins.
Working with CYP as we know may often mean that there will be other adults already involved in the CYP’s care (parental consent, social workers, schools, etc), and so working online requires additional skills, reflecting, relationship-building and resources to ensure CYP client safety. This module will not only briefly revisit some key child protection and safeguarding procedures that we should all know as CYP therapists but will also offer some clarity and tips on what you should additionally be mindful of, resources to have at hand and how to safeguard CYP more efficiently when you are not in the same room as your young client. ‘
This course will focus on Children and Young People (CYP). There will be a similar course focusing on the adult client group (MOD 17).
