Narcissistic character traits, in clients, can be some of the most stubborn and challenging traits to work with for therapists. Trickier still, can be facilitating growth and healing for clients who have been deeply affected within a narcissistic relationship. Kate will introduce her Narcissistic wounding continuum with the empath and the ‘narcissist’ seemingly being at opposite ends. The empath has often been deeply wounded by a parent with narcissistic character traits and how developed in such a way to survive.
In this workshop you’ll learn about both polarities of the continuum.
Because many practitioners have been wounded by the narcissists in their lives their own experiences can have them repelling against or colluding with their clients.
These character traits that we experience (directly from our clients) or hear about (through our clients) can tap into the deepest parts of us activating our own primal wounding. This can muddy the water, deskill, consume and render us feeling incompetent.
In this workshop you’ll learn:
- Kleinian ideas on child development and how narcissism can persist into adulthood
- Narcissism – characteristics and behaviours
- Empath characteristics and behaviours
- Narcissistic Personal Disorder and the DSM 5
- The narcissistic continuum from empath to NPD
- How to work with narcissism in the therapy space

- How to hold your own wounding so you can be fully present with your clients
