It’s the care givers job to be devoted; for the baby to be the centre of their world and in previous workshops you will have learnt the importance of love for joy and connection. There are times however when the devotion isn’t contained; when there is a spilling out and the child isn’t able to develop their own identify and sense of self away from their parent. This of course occurs on a continuum which will be explored within the workshop.
Even more concerning is when generational boundaries blur; when a care givers attention becomes dangerous, crossing emotional and sexual boundaries.
We’ll be drawing upon neuroscience and the work on Britton (Missing Link theory) to explore the important stages of letting go that is required of a parent to allow their child to become their own person and develop a robust identity and strong but flexible boundaries.
