Q: How were the location and venue chosen?

A: The location for our event was selected based on community feedback through a poll conducted on Menti, where London emerged as the most popular choice. For the venue, we initially explored options to have the space donated but were unable to secure one. As a result, we chose the most affordable option that still meets our needs.

Q: What should I consider in terms of travel and costs?

A: When planning your visit, please consider transportation costs, ticket prices, and food expenses while in London. We have aimed to keep ticket prices as low as possible to make the event accessible, but we recognise that travel and other costs may add up. If you need assistance, please reach out to us.

Q: Why did you decide to host the event in person given environmental concerns?

A: We carefully considered the environmental impact of hosting an in-person event. While we recognise that in-person gatherings can have a larger carbon footprint compared to virtual events, we believe that the value of face-to-face interaction, especially for a topic as nuanced as therapy and social change and relational depth is significant. In-person events foster deeper connections, spontaneous collaboration, and a more immersive experience that is difficult to replicate online.

However, we are committed to minimising the environmental impact as much as possible. To this end, we have implemented several eco-friendly measures, including:

  • Encouraging sustainable travel: We encourage attendees to travel by train, carpool, or use other low-emission transportation options.
  • Reducing waste: We have eliminated single-use plastics and are encouraging participants to bring their own reusable water bottles.
  • Hybrid Option: If you wish, you can join us virtually for the morning segment of the day.

Q: How is the event accommodating neurodivergent attendees?

A: We are dedicated to creating a neurodivergent-affirming space. The venue will include a quiet room for those who need a break. Our event will also be structured to reduce overwhelming stimuli, and we encourage open communication with our team if you need any specific accommodations.

Q: How will the event ensure a psychologically safe space for all participants?

A: Creating a psychologically safe space is one of our top priorities, but we also recognise that achieving this fully is challenging, especially in an event setting where experiences and interactions are dynamic and unpredictable.
We are committed to fostering an environment where all participants feel respected, heard, and valued. To support this, we are implementing the following measures:

  • Respectful interaction: We will provide guidelines to all attendees, encouraging open dialogue while emphasizing respect and empathy. This includes setting clear boundaries around language and behavior that could be harmful or exclusionary.
  • Facilitated discussions: Trained facilitators will lead sessions, ensuring that conversations remain constructive and inclusive. They will be equipped to manage any conflicts or discomforts that arise, aiming to address issues in the here and now. – Support resources: We will have mental health professionals on-site for those who may need additional support during the event. A quiet room will also be available for anyone needing a break from the social environment.
  • Checking-In: Throughout the event, we will actively check-in with participants to address any concerns as they arise. This allows us to make adjustments in real-time and respond to the needs of our attendees.

We acknowledge that the experiential nature of in-person events means we cannot guarantee that every moment will feel safe for every individual. However, we are dedicated to making the space “safe enough” by being responsive, adaptable, and intentional in our planning and execution. Your safety and well-being are our priority, and we encourage open communication before, during, and after the event to ensure this.

Q: What are we doing after the event?

A: We are currently aiming to find an inclusive venue for all of us to hang out together after the event to connect. We are aiming for a cafe nearby.

Q: Who can I contact for more information?

A: For any further questions, please contact us at tascnetwork@gmail.com.
