In this workshop you’ll learn about the dissociation continuum and depersonalisation & derealisation, ways to help your clients understand this protective nervous system response, techniques to bring aliveness and wellbeing back into your clients.
Workshop Details:
When a person experiences an event or relationship that feels so overwhelming and they’re left powerless, then the only option for the nervous system is to shut down. Part of this shutting down (often) ensures the person is left with little or no memory of the event which can lead to confusion and dismay when trying to make sense of their present day experience.
Dissociation exists on a continuum with it’s symptoms serving as a protective mechanism…often from hurt & fear through to perceived or actual life threat. The body does an amazing job at remembering – it is our autobiography – yet it can take ways of being that was once adaptive (protective) to becoming maladaptive (repeated patterns) which can have a person feeling disconnected to life, others and themselves.
In this workshop you’ll learn:
- about the dissociation continuum and depersonalisation & derealisation
- ways to help your clients understand this protective nervous system response
- Techniques to bring aliveness and wellbeing back into your clients system
