About this event

Trauma Informed Psychotherapy and Counselling Study Support Session 2 Workshop with Eppie Wells

Embarking on a counselling or psychotherapy course is often driven by a passion for helping others rather than a love for academic work. Navigating such courses can be particularly challenging, especially for those with neurodivergence. This series of five workshops aims to provide trauma informed study support, helping students identify and overcome blocks to their studies over the course of the academic year.

Session overview

Each of the sessions will include:

  • Exploring blocks to studying through a trauma informed perspective
  • Practical activities and reflections using basic brainspotting (BSP) and breathwork techniques
  • Tips to enhance study efficiency and enjoyment
  • The opportunity to share experience and tips
  • In the last session the opportunity to share ideas to shape the future of psychotherapy and counselling courses attended by John Wilson

Learning Objective Participants Can Expect From This Event

  • Gain a deeper understanding of how your past educational trauma is impacting your studying journey and how you can use this to find and express your unique voice.
  • Learn and apply basic Brainspotting (BSP) and Breathworks techniques to aid your journey through the course.
  • Acquire and share practical hints and strategies to enhance your academic journey.

Who is This Workshop Appropriate For?

  • If you are a student training to become a counsellor or psychotherapist, or if you are supporting students.

How May This Workshop Impact Your Practice?

  • The workshops may enable you (or those you are supporting), to become more confident and effective in the studying journey, to find and express your unique voice.
