About
Shyronie Davis
Shyronie Davis is CEO of London-based educational initiative Rooted Wisdom and Trainee Psychodynamic Psychotherapist.
Shyronie is a trainee psychodynamic psychotherapist and trauma-informed practitioner. She specialises in supporting Black adolescents and addressing neurodiversity. Her work centres on Black boys in the UK criminal justice system, exploring the therapeutic, social, and systemic implications of their experiences, in addition to the psychological impact of racial identity, trauma, and incarceration. Shyronie examines the countertransference and complexities of being a Black woman supporting Black boys within predominantly white institutions in the UK – including the criminal justice system, prison settings, and therapeutic spaces. Through her work, she addresses themes of identification, radicalised trauma, and the challenges of representation in mental health care and rehabilitation.
For BWTUK 24 one-day online conference, Shyronie contributed towards a seminar entitled: Roads to Recovery Healing from Therapy Training. Accessible at: https://onlinevents.co.uk/courses/ (search 2024 Black Women Therapists Online Conference: ‘Challenging the Strong Black Woman Archetype’).
