About this event

Embrace Recovery & Resilience after Adversity & Trauma: Well-being Embodied Workshop with Winniey E. Maduro

In this final workshop of the 12-part series, we will focus on resilience as an essential psychosocial resource at the heart of recovery from adverse life experiences (ALEs) and trauma. Participants will be encouraged to examine the significance of resonant relationships and social connections in fostering resilience in the body and mind. I am referring to healthy connections we form through interactions within social networks, which help us to navigate life effectively, develop into purposeful and competent personalities, and seize opportunities to thrive. We will emphasise that well-being is a core goal of the authentic self and embodies somatic, psychological, emotional, behavioral, relational, and spiritual adaptability, all which can be achieved in relationships that are nourishing, reliable and resonant. This includes the relationship we can cultivate with ourselves, viewed through the lens of positive psychology.

Participants will gain insight into:

  • Recovery from trauma & resilience in the face of adversity – the neurobiology of post-traumatic growth
  • Transgenerational resilience & post-traumatic growth
  • Neuropsychosocial therapy – a positive psychology approach
  • Psychosocial Developmental Demand in Focus – integrating integrity to promote wisdom (the antithesis of disdain and despair in dis-integration)
  • The healing power of collecting, connecting and correcting life stories
  • Introduction to Spiritual SPEARs for integration & well-being

Who is This Workshop Appropriate For?

  • Featuring theoretical insights alongside case studies, this workshop holds a specific appeal for trauma researchers, therapists, clinicians, as well as lay individuals exploring their own traumas.

How May This Workshop Impact Your Practice?

  • Promising an exploration of the neurobiology of the psychosocial, this is a “cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural synthesis of neurobiology, attachment and trauma theory, spirituality, and epigenetics. Woven through passionate prose is an appreciation of the centrality of storytelling, testimony, and bearing witness in the lives of human beings in groups and communities. Here is a giant step forward for the emergent field of psychosocial studies” with a special appeal for clinicians and well-being practitioners employing neurobiology of the psychosocial and narratives to improve outcomes within therapeutic relationships.

This is one of a series of 12 workshops based on Dr Maduro’s recently published work on Neuropsychosocial Integration in which she explores the incidence of psychosocial trauma in ordinary life as it persists across generations.
