In this workshop, we will explore the effects of continuous psychosocial stress to which Adverse Life Events (ALEs) give rise in the body and the mind and deepen our understanding of the ancient processes of interoception and neuroception, which help us to recognise and respond to life events while steering us to stay safe and well. Participants will be encouraged to draw insight from the neurobiology of the psychosocial as we examine structural changes in the nervous system that can occur in response to Neuropsychosocial Therapy. Additionally, we will discuss how the limbic imperatives of attachment, authenticity, autonomy, agency, and attention help in the discharge of chaotic energies associated with psychosocial stress, facilitating a turn to a state of integration and well-being in and between the body and mind.
Participants will gain insight into:
- Features of continuous psychosocial stress syndrome in the body and mind
- Hopelessness and helplessness in disintegration v hopefulness and helpfulness in integration
- The role of social engagement nerves in recovery from trauma and disintegration – a polyvagal perspective
- Resilience in parasympathetic domination in the body and mind (a state of authenticity)
- Psychosocial Developmental Demand in Focus – Integrating Generativity to Promote Care (the Antithesis of Stagnation and Self-absorption in Dis-Integration)
- Introduction to Relational SPEARs for integration & Well-being - Correcting the stories
